Kip Ayers has finished work on the first cover for me. I think it fits the idea of “fantasy quest” much better.

Oh, yes!! I love it. I’m ready to order a signed hard cover.
Hehe. I’ve got to do the dustjacket text next 🙂
Really really nice – but she’s walking through vast fields – not the woods.
Yep.
Road needs to be roughed up a bit to show horse and cart era. More weeds. Yep I think it s good to.
LOVE this.
Thanks, Scott.
Great cover for a great book!
I agree with Tara. It’s nice, but I was expecting a forest environment, not plains.
Yeah, but …
That’s only because you’ve read the book.
The original cover was *perfect* if you’d already read the story, but people looking at it for the first time had no clue what that forest meant.
I might have preferred a forested scene, but the reality was that I liked the way this one feels and combined with the rest of the cover, I like how it works.
Yes, I agree with the previous posts about a missing forest. However, Tanyth is absolutely great on that one !
As for the last version ? I hop I’ll not hurt you if I say it screamed “amateur” … That one really is far, far better !
I at first saw the new cover on Amazon, but will have to update my local ebooks version with this !
Congrats to you and the artist !
It did look amateurish. I’ve done so much better work on covers for other people. Perhaps there’s a lesson about being too close to the subject in there somewhere.
And thanks. 🙂
Nathan,
I really like the new cover.
I hope your good experience with this form of publishing (controlling everything) might encourage you to follow this route for more of your work. Congratulations on a great launch.

Hi Nathan;
I’ve been enjoying your work for several years now, and have downloaded and re-listened to the trader’s, shaman, and Ravenwood books several times! I’m excited for the new steps you’ve taken this past year! Congratulations! (that’s a lot of !’s)
I have a couple of questions for you… Do you plan to podcast the second Lammas Wood book?
Any news on Cape Grace?
I like the cover BTW (given that’s what this post was about!)
Suzzie
Yes, I do intend to podcast all the books. That’s a given.
I tabled Cape Grace for November (and December) but it’s on the pile of TBW for next year.
I’ve noticed that removing Ravenwood from my Kindle and then downloading it again does not result in a book with the updated cover. Since Amazon doesn’t allow you to purchase ebooks twice I assume that I’m supposed to be able to get updated versions of books somehow. Can you offer me any advice here?
This cover makes me want to go down the road with her to see where it leads.

Me too. 😀
What about the covers for book 2 and 3?
I love it!
